Ground cover plants are much used in gardens of all sizes to add colour and texture and to cut down on maintenance and weeding. Plants can be chosen for every spot, either simply to fill in between existing shrubs or to bring interest to areas of the garden previously ignored: steep banks for example, or deeply shaded areas beneath trees. The book recommends and describes a variety of ground cover plants, many of them evergreen, all hardy, and suitable for all needs. It includes heights and planting distances and has notes on soils and planting, feeding, mulching and maintenance.
